Northeast Girls Foot Locker Pre-season Favorites

Danielle Tauro, one of the Big Three, is the favorite to win the Northeast Region. There are 22 of the top 28 girls returning from last year. So the race will be a great one, as it always is. There are several PA girls in the hunt as well. Sarah Morrison (Chambersburg), Neely Spence (Shippensburg), Kacey Gibson (Neshannock) are ranked 10th, 13th, and 14th, respectively. Lara Crofford (Big Spring) and Katherine Ward (State College) were named to honorable mention. The Northeast region is always strong for girls, and this year will not disappoint.

2006 Harrier Super 25

Coatesville and Radnor begin the season ranked in the Harrier Super 25, 4th and 14th respectively. The top two PA teams are holding their own and are a part of the nation's elite. Hopefully they will continue to move up the rankings throughout the season, and we will see some more PA teams added as well.

Mead (WA) is the number one team for boys, and Hilton (NY), the defending NTN champion, is the number one team for girls.

Foot Locker Favorites (Girls)

The girls predictions have been released, and they are touting three big guns as the ones to beat. Jordan Hasay, the defending champion, Danielle Tauro, NIN, NON, and USATF Junior Mile/1500 champion, and Marie Lawrence, NON and USATF Junior steeplechase champion. With many returnees chasing them down, and a few upstarts, it should be a fabulous race to see.

Foot Locker Favorites (Boys)

Well the XC season is upon us, and that means the pre-season predictions are here as well. For today's pre-season poll we have the Foot Locker National Favorites (Boys). They feel four boys are at the top of the class, Matt Tebo, Evan Jager, Michael Cybulski, and Craig Forys. They have been labeled the Big 4, after them are a host of talented runners, looking to claim the top spot as well. Two of my favorites are De'Sean Turner and Tommy Greuenwald. I say they both will be top 5.

Matt Tegenkamp does it again

Matt Tegenkamp is having a phenomenal season this year. It seems as if he sets a new pr in every race he runs. He is very humble athlete who has an excellent vision of where he wants to go in the sport. He has taken the time to share his training and thoughts leading up to his two recent prs (1500-3:36.07, 3000-7:34.98). He is an honest and tough judge with his performances, discussing the things he did well, and making note of the things he needs to improve.

Coatesville, Radnor ranked in the Northeast NTN Pre-season

Coatesville boys start the season ranked Number 1 in the Northeast region. They return all seven guys from a team that started out ranked 5th in the Northeast last year, but had a bad day at states and finished fourth. Not too bad to have a bad day, and get fourth.

The Radnor girls are loaded, and their lineup received an extra boost from a new student from who was an all-state performer in Washington. Radnor finished fifth at states last year, and returns four of their top five, and six of their top 7. They are going to NY for a race, a solid performance there should increase their chances of making the top two automatic bids.

Hopefully we can get a few more PA teams ranked and out to Oregon. Good luck to all the teams this year.

If

One of my favorite poems. Artie introduced me to it. And today many of the words ring true. Always have to keep your head, when people around you are losing theirs, and blaming it on you, and spreading lies. It's a mad, mad, mad world we live in. In the famous words of Carlito Briganter, "Never give up your friends."

[IF]

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!
